First and foremost, I would like to clarify that I am not a millionaire yet, but I interact with many of them in my line of work. Also, I have read many books about successful people, thus ascertaining some of the habits I will talk about today.
Life is not all about money, but it would be nice to become a millionaire and take care of your family. The journey towards becoming a millionaire has to start with tracking their habits plus their do's and don'ts.
The article will focus on five unique habits of millionaires that many people assume. I have tried following these habits for over a year now, and I have witnessed tremendous changes in my life.
Millionaires Read
Many people read during their leisure time to relax and entice themselves Millionaires read to learn and improve themselves regularly.
Reading is a crucial part of success since everything you want is inside these books. Almost all successful people write books when they get to the top, and they always try to recollect on their journey and the challenges they have faced.
You cannot learn about these challenges if you don't open these books and read them. Modern technology has grossly interrupted reading cultures, which were revered in the past since everybody is on social media now. But, you can take advantage of social media by listening to audiobooks available on YouTube.
Audiobooks are freely available online; hence you do not have to pay anything to get all the knowledge you are looking for. Most importantly, all millionaires I have interacted with have a reading culture that they are very particular about in their discussions. I have a millionaire friend who will always ask me about recent books that I am reading, and he recommends his latest readings to me.
2. Millionaires Plan and Schedule
You will never meet millionaires who have no plan or schedule on where they are supposed to be in the next hour or day. All millionaires have plans and schedules on what they are supposed to do every day and how that will contribute to the weekly schedule.
Some are too busy; hence they would barely have time for small talk or interactions. Also, they tend to have numerous phone calls to plan their next moves or where they are going to be in the following weeks.
I have tried planning, and it has helped me in organizing myself. There were times when I struggled to be productive because I never planned for anything. I would wake up early but still find myself being late to appointments since everything was not organized.
Today I have a detailed schedule on my phone, which guides me on when I wake up, exercise, eat and focus on work. I have realized that I am more relaxed because of the schedule, and I do not struggle with deadlines anymore. It would be best if try it; I guarantee you will see a huge difference.
3. Millionaires are Frugal
I know you believe all millionaires buy Lamborghinis and Ferraris since that is what you see in movies. In real life, millionaires are the most economical people you will ever meet.
There are instances where I would offer to buy a millionaire friend of mine beer since I know he would not do it without complaining. The guy in question is very wealthy, with many rental apartments all over the city, but he barely spends any money.
Almost all actual millionaires that I have met in real life do not spend lots of money on daily needs. They buy only what they truly need and then assume others or opt-out of arrangements. Some would avoid going out many times because they know they might have to spend.
Also, they are very economical when it comes to buying clothes, shoes, and food. You will not find them with the latest designer clothes or shoes simply because they have the money to buy them. On the other side, athletes and celebrity millionaires will spend too much on clothes and shoes because they want their followers to believe they are rich.
I have never met a millionaire who overspends, and that is just me probably I am not well-traveled. But I think it is important to be economical, especially if you do not have a trust fund or wealthy parents to support you.
4. Prioritize Health
Millionaires are inquisitive about health, and they always want to improve their eating or lifestyle choices. They are always looking for the best diets. Many of them would read about ways of living a healthy lifestyle.
Some of them may be overweight, or they may look like they never exercise but believe me, they do. You will learn that if you get closer to them and listen to their ideas.
I think health is the most important thing that people should care about even more than their money. Without health, you cannot work and build wealth for your generation. It is imperative that you try to assert healthy ways of living without being told by experts.
I value exercising today, even though I didn't believe in the past. I have learned to prioritize health because of a doctor friend I met two years ago. He is almost 60 years old but still prioritizes morning runs and eating healthy above everything in his life. He told me, "Jack, if you prioritize eating healthy and exercising, you will not spend a dime on healthcare."
During that time, I had breathing problems, and I could sweat a lot from taking minor walks around my neighborhood. All these problems disappeared miraculously when I started exercising and gradually lost the potbelly that was interfering with my self-confidence.
Most importantly, exercise is good for your heart because you do not want to own a heart that is covered in fats. That will make you vulnerable to heart attacks and other severe medical conditions that will impede your happiness.
5. They Invest in People
Many people say millionaires are mean, and they never want to interact with the lowly in society. That might be true for some, but most of the millionaires I have met are happy to interact with others and mentor those who are serious.
The main problem with many of us is that we are always looking for handouts from the rich. That will not get you anywhere since you will not learn anything from the interaction. There is a proverb that says, 'Do not give a man fish but teach him how to catch fish."
Potential millionaires are more interested in how successful people made their money than handouts. Successful people are always ready to mentor other people and invest as much as possible in them.
That is because they want to build wealth by making people around them better. They are also motivated to invest in their communities and empower women struggling in various capacities.
Bottom Line
Millionaires read because they always want to learn and improve their field. Also, millionaires plan ahead, and they have tight schedules that align with their business and daily demands.
Many millionaires barely have free time to spend on small talk with family and friends. They always have somewhere better to be, but they can create time for loved ones.
Millionaires are frugal; they never splash money on all ideas that come their way. They prioritize their health; hence they will appear inquisitive about blueprints on healthy living.
These tips will not necessarily make you a millionaire, but they can improve your lifestyle and make you a more organized person in real life.
